Hill Says Midweek Game ‘A Chance To Put Things Right’ Following Cup Defeat

By Jacob Greenwood

Garry Hill has called for a response from his team following a disappointing display on Sunday contributed to Woking’s FA Cup exit at the hands of Wrexham.

Woking, who have struggled to find form in recent weeks, found themselves 3-0 down before half-time following mistakes at the back and Hill couldn’t hide his disappointment when talking to the club’s website after the match. He told press officer John Moore:

“You don’t become a bad player, a bad team or a bad management staff overnight. You see it at the highest level of football at the moment with Man City.

“We haven’t been playing well for a little while but it is the nuculus of the same players. We have too many players at the moment who aren’t playing to the standards required and we are getting punished for it one way or another.”

Woking face The Dragons again on Wednesday when the Welsh side visit Kingfield for a league fixture. Hill hopes that his side can show a reaction:

“There is an opportunity in four days (to put things right). If you are hurting that bad, get yourself prepared properly for Wednesday night, if selected and do your utmost to put things right.

“We have got a lot of hard work to do. It is our group of players and staff and we have to turn around and dig deep.”

“I wish it (the game) was tomorrow night, that’s the way I am and that’s the way I want the players want to be.”

Woking beat Wrexham 2-1 at The Racecourse ground earlier in the season and The Cards will be hoping to claim some revenge, and a league double, over the Welsh side on Wednesday evening.
