Garry Hill hinted that there could still be transfer action at Kingfield following his side’s 3-0 home win against struggling Alfreton Town.

A first-half penalty from Scott Rendell set The Cards on their way to victory when Ross Lafayette was pulled down in the box. The Luton loanee struck in the second half to double the home side’s lead with Man of the Match Charles Banya wrapping up the victory with a third.

In his post-match interview with Woking FC TV, Hill suggested that despite the loan signings of Lafayette and most recently Yemi Odubade, The Cards could still be looking to bring players in as the transfer window heads towards its conclusion. He said:

“I still think we are a couple of players short and we will do our utmost to try and fetch a couple in. If that means one or two going out [of the club] then that is how it is going to be.”

The victory was Woking’s first in the league since a 2-0 victory against Altrincham in early December. Hill talked of his delight after the game:

“It’s a big weight off of the shoulders of myself, the staff, the supporters and certainly the players. We have gone through a testing period of the last couple of months and it was important for us to stop the rot.”

The Cards travel to The Hive to take on first placed Barnet next weekend. Despite their impressive form, it is a challenge the Woking boss is relishing:

“We look forward to going to the league leaders, they are a good footballing side. Martin Allen has done a great job. We will take a good following there and we look forward to it.”
