Morgan Declares Cards Are ‘Good Enough To Be Top’ After Away Day Victory

By Jacob Greenwoond

Dean Morgan scored his fifth goal of the season in Woking’s 3-0 win at Altrincham on Saturday before declaring that The Cards were not worried about any opposition in the league.

The pacey forward scored the second of Woking’s goals in a comfortable win against a struggling Robins side at Moss Lane and told the club website after the game that getting the first goal was a crucial breakthrough.

“It was a good win, obviously they made it as difficult as they could for us, but it was just a matter of time before we got our first goal and once we got our first we felt we could score many more after that.”

The win saw Woking move up to second in the table and The Cards now sit only three points behind league leaders Barnet with a game in hand. Morgan believes the current crop of Woking players have the potential to be successful this season.

“It is a good strong squad. I don’t know too many squads in this league but I feel this one is one of the best.

“I feel our team is good enough to be top. We are not worried about anyone else. Everyone we play wants to stop us more than trying to beat us. That is when it gets frustrating.”

The Cards return to Kingfield next Saturday and face newly promoted Telford who have made a disappointing start to the season and currently sit at the bottom of the table. Despite this, the 31-year-old told how it would still be a stern test.

“All the games are dangerous. They are going to come and they are going to make it difficult for us.

“We have got our game plan and we know what we are good at, if we create chances we will score goals.”
