Marriott praises the fans after scoring on his second debut

By Jacob Greenwood

Jack Marriott has talked of the delight of making a scoring return to ‘homely’ Kingfield.

The 19-year-old scored 9 goals in 9 games during his first spell with The Cards and scored on his return during Woking’s 3-0 win against Hereford United.

The Ipswich loanee nodded in John Nutter’s cross from 8 yards out to put Woking ahead. Kieran Murtagh and ‘man of the match’ Josh Payne were also on the scoresheet in Monday’s victory. Payne had the pick of the goals after he smashed home a wonder strike in the 88th minute to secure the win.

Taking to BBC Surrey after the game Marriott talked of his return to Woking:

“When the fans sing your name there is nothing better than that, it is an unbelievable feeling. I get that here, they are really good fans to me.

To put on the Woking shirt again just felt natural. It is where I have spent most of my time this year playing games and it felt homely almost.”

Marriott also hinted at having a hand in Rendell signing for Woking after his release from Luton Town.

“I spoke to him [Rendell] on Monday and said I was coming back and I am glad he is coming back as well.

I had a word with him and said I am going back to Woking and I would love to be back playing with you and he told me he would ‘have a word’”
