Hayes & Yeading are expected to spend even longer than expected as tenants at Woking’s Kingfield stadium as it was revealed they would need another £2M to complete their Beaconsfield Road ground.
United were due to move into their new ground in time for this season but continued financial problems have seen the building work delayed. This means the Conference South club could be forced to spend the whole season ground sharing with Woking.
The move would see fans having to complete a 40-mile roundtrip to watch ‘home’ games but chairman, Tony O’Driscoll, insist the club just don’t have the money to complete the ground at present. He told the Uxbridge Gazette:
“The builders are saying that there’s another £2million of work on the stand to get it finished, but we don’t have £2million so we need to see how much we can get done with the money we have got and see where we are then.
“The builders have pulled off and said that we owe them money.”
