Met Police explain their large attendance at Woking game

The Metropolitan police’s football unit have explained their larger than usual presence at Park View Road on Saturday.

Approximately 20 officers were present alongside stewards to control a crowd of just 809 fans who watched Welling United beat ten-man Woking 3-0.

The Met Police have told Everything Woking FC that they were there following ‘minor incidents’ in previous seasons. They told us:

‘There was a few minor issues the last time theses 2 (teams) met, so the match commander wanted extra officers so we could deal with any problems that may occur but it was a quiet afternoon.”
